Gold Rush 5K

I have never been a runner or really had the desire to run - but this winter, I decided that I did want to do the Joplin Memorial 5K in May.  So, in February I started the Couch to 5K program (for the 14th time) and I actually stuck with it.  I highly recommend this program for anyone that has no experience in running and would like to start running.  It eases you into running longer times and distances.

When Lance brought home the flyer for the Gold Rush 5K, I thought why not? It would be a good first race and one that Lance and I could do together. The weather was not the most ideal, it snowed on the morning of the race, yes - I did say snow in May - can you believe that? Crazy weather! Luckily it was an evening race and although is was a bit chilly, it was bearable and I was just glad that it wasnt snowing or raining.

Lance and Grayson all bundled up before the race.

Ready to go!

And we are off!
Lance started the race off with me and about 5 minutes in, he looked up at me and asked if he could go on with out me.  I guess Mom was too slow for him!

Slow and steady

Coming to the finish line! Lance did come back and run across the finish line with me - sweet boy :-)

We finished! That was my ultimate goal - just to finish the race!!  Lance did a great job on his first 5K, he finished with a time just a little over 32 minutes and I finished with a time of 41.34 - I'll take it! Next race up is the Joplin Memorial Run - Matt is doing the half marathon, Lance and I are doing the 5K and Grayson is doing the fun run.

Luke

Let me introduce to you the newest member of the Daspit family, Luke Walter.  He is a black labrador retriever and he is full of energy! I forgot just how much work a puppy is, but he is fun and fitting right in with our little family.

Matt has always wanted a black lab.  When his parents told us that their lab was pregnant, he immediately wanted a pup from this litter and I knew there was no changing his mind or the boys mind.  Matt wanted to name him Walter, the boys didn't like that - they wanted to name him Luke so....we have Luke Walter.

He has the sweetest face and a sweet personality to go with it - I can't wait to watch the boys grow up with him and for this to be "their" dog.  I'm sure they have lots of adventures ahead of them!

Star Student

Lance received the star student award in March at his school's monthly award assembly. He received it for his academic accomplishments and his good behavior.  He was so excited to be chosen for the award and we couldn't be prouder of our Lancer!
He had no idea that he was receiving an award :-)

Mimi surprised Lance and came to see him get his special award

Grayson's 4th Birthday

It is hard to believe that our sweet Grayson is 4-years old!  He had been counting down the days, hours, minutes until it was patrty time - he had been looking forward to his party since we booked it back in February!  Chuck E. Cheese was his choice of venue and I must say, not being a fan of CC - it was a great party and they did a great job to make sure that the birthday boy felt very special!

He had a smile on his face that would not stop! It was so much to watch him having such a great time and knowing that it was his special day and all about him!

He loved being up on stage getting his crown and medallion from Chuck E. - he didn't mind at all that all eyes were on him!

My best "group" shot - I hate that I forgot to get a group shot of all his buddies
We ended the party with a trip to the ticket blaster - Lance and Grayson had been so excited about this part of the party and Lance got the most wanted 1,000 ticket!  Way to go Lance!

Lance's 7th Birthday

It is hard to believe that our Lancer is 7-years old!  What a blessing he is to our family - he is such a sweet, kind hearted boy that is growing up before our eyes.

We started his special day with a special breakfast of pancakes and bacon before he headed off to school.

Grayson and I took him lunch at school and got to enjoy lunch with Lance and his buds.
After school, he patiently waited for Daddy to get home from work and then he got to open his presents from Mommy, Daddy and Grayson.

Magic Tree House books from Mom and Dad
New clothes from Mom and Dad
Lego dump truck from Mom and Dad
A Thirty-One duffle bag from Mom :-)
He loves his Thirty-One bags!

After we opened gifts at home, he wanted to go to Abuelos for his birthday dinner (he is his Momma's boy - he loves his Mexican food!) We had a great time and a great meal just the four of us - both boys loved the salsa and cheese dip.  They offered a special birthday dessert for Lance, but he was too full to eat it!

Saturday was his Birthday Party with friends at Fast Lanes.  We had a Lego themed party and Lance and his buddies got to play 2 rounds of laser tag, enjoy pizza and cake and then got to play 30 minutes of arcade games.  They had a blast!

Happy Birthday to Lance
Love this sweet boy!  Happy 7th Birthday Lance!

After the party at Fast Lanes - we went to Texas Land and Cattle to have a meal with our family and to open gifts.  Although, the meal was a diaster - we enjoyed our time with our family and got to enjoy Nana's yummy Lego cake.  I'm sad I didn't get any pictures of the family dinner/party - my SD card was full :-(
